PERIPHERAL
Among the many top-level independent publishers that have appeared in Spain, Peripheral is one of my favorites. The reason is simple: never let me down. I read three books by American authors in his catalog: The Rolling Stones Peru, Peruvians and Cucho Peñaloza Sergio Galarza; Help him, the Argentine Fogwill; United Jobs, Mexican Yuri Herrera . Galarza, and Peñaloza have written a nonfiction chronicle about a meeting that fails to occur with Rolling (is also a testament to delirious extremes can get a fan) has reimagined Fogwill seamlessly (and ruthless) to Borges Beatriz Viterbo from the hallucination of drugs (the other short novel full volume, About art of the novel, is even best), and Herrera has written the first novel that everyone wants to write an adventure between narcos and corridos, told in a prose that always manages to find images memorable turns of phrase worthy of applause.
All these books are short. They note, there, the hallmark of his editor, writer Julian Rodriguez Extremadura, someone who, by style and temperament, is very close to the evocative minimalism the Chilean Alejandro Zambra.
In his statement, Peripheral, founded in April 2006, says he will address, among other things, "the boldest proposals and suggestions from the last international fiction, with special attention to the best literature Latin America today. " Galarza, and Herrera Fowgill show that peripheral is doing very well designed. A future addition to the catalog: Maximiliano Barrientos Bolivia (Santa Cruz, 1979), one of those remarkable writers of the new generation which, fortunately for readers beyond the borders of Bolivia, has been discovered by Peripheral.
